About us and what we're looking for:
Organic Planet is a collectively organized worker co-op, owned by the workers, and run by the workers. Workers share in all aspects of running the business; from managing our organic store to working in the deli. Previous co-op, kitchen, and leadership experience is highly valued.
Skills we’re looking for: commercial kitchen experience with specific interest in vegan and gluten-free cooking and baking, grocery/produce experience, experience working with others & independently, and customer service/retail experience. Workers start in the Deli, so therefore must know their way around a kitchen and have a strong knowledge of ingredients and a good sense of intuition in their cooking.
What we’re offering: 20-30 hours / week to start with potential for growth, flexible schedule, $13.50 starting wage with a pay increase upon being offered membership, benefits after 3 months, and the opportunity to be part of a fantastic team working towards a more sustainable future.
What does it mean to be offered membership? We’re looking for individuals who are interested in long-term involvement in the co-op. After a 9 month probation & learning period, workers are offered part ownership of the business where responsibilities are equally shared and members have the opportunity to become a committed part of a dedicated team, passionate about the industry and our local community.
This is truly a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in learning about democratic working models, organizing and running a business within a collectively-minded enterprise, and having the chance to prepare and serve up some beautiful organic food to our community.
If this sounds like the perfect future for you, please drop off or e-mail a cover letter explaining your knowledge of cooperative structures and why you’re interested in being part of our team, along with your resume and current availability.
